ST MICHAELS 0-13 PASSAGE 0-06

Our junior A team got their campaign off to a great start in Ballinlough tonight with a seven point win over Passage.  After a slow start to proceedings ,Keith Hegarty opened the scoring on 8 mins  before Passage registered their first scores.Passage had the advantage of conditions in the opening half,but a fine point from the raiding Aido Coyne on  20 mins followed by two quick fire Hega points settled matters in favour of the Michaels lads. Two injury time points on the stroke of half time by Sean Keating and Keith saw us go into the break with a strong looking 0-06 to 0-02 lead. A quick start was required in the second half to consolidate that lead and we got just that when Gilty and Hega raised white flags almost  immediately . Passage however came back strong ,and after three unanswered points , reduced their deficit to just a goal. This,however, spurred St Michaels and a point  from Eric, followed by another Gilty effort put us back in control . Aido Coyne further added to his reputation as an attacking wing back of the Tomas o Shea mould when he kicked two more super scores in the last ten minutes to ensure victory for Michaels.
