Junior B County Final St Michael’s 3-15 Goleen 2-07

The dazzlers are Junior B County Champions. What a super performance last night in Pairc Ui Rinn where the B’s ran out convincing winners over our west Cork rivals. Credit to the management team ofColm,Frankie,Sean,Andrew,Deccie,Alan,Cian,Egan & Holly,and let’s not forget Paddy Barry.Fittingly our Captain,Sean Conway,on accepting the cup,dedicated the win to the memory of Paddy and acknowledged his contribution to the club.After a fast start , two quick points from Smithy and Keeffa, Goleen rocked us back with an O’Reilly goal after four mins. Although the evergreen smaller Crowley added a point,(only his second ever in 30 odd years playing )Goleen edged ahead again after 8 mins.The dazzlers took control however at this stage , when points from Hurley (f) Keeffa and Dineen were followed by a superb goal from Cronin. Hurley added another before a brace from the excellent Ian Giltenan had us ahead at the break 1-09 1-02. Out of date sweets from Notters didn’t quell our enthusiasm in the stands during the interval, and on resumption the dazzlers quickly set about closing out the deal when an O’Halloran point was quickly followed by a goals from Smithy and Hurley, the latter a sublime finish into the top corner over the stranded keeper . However, a Tadhg Cullinane goal for Goleen was followed up by two points and suddenly we were looking at the clock. The legend had entered the fray at this stage though, and he settled the nerves with a super score , followed quickly by a Hurley free. Ger O Connell made a super save on 50 mins , turning the ball around for a 45 and although Goleen manufactured a score from this, we added further points from Keefa ,Hurley and minor player Alan Connolly . It was at this stage ,after 59 mins when Notley said “surely we’ll win it now?” and referee Sheehans whistle blew shortly after to scenes of jubilation amongst the dazzlers. Thanks to everyone involved for lifting the club . This result was just reward for all the hard work and effort put in by everyone on and off the pitch,let’s keep doing this .
