Junior B Championship Q-F St Michael’s 2-13 Douglas 1-13

In the end a 3 point win for the dazzlers ,but the result was in doubt right up to the last minute. A capacity crowd for a double header , most stayed on ,and with the uncovered stand behind the goal crammed to capacity ,we got a very entertaining game in the end . Douglas opened the scoring, and Luke Carroll, back from a long lay off ,equalised. Douglas edged ahead again and Falvey equalised before a mix up in the Douglas defence resulted in Sean Cormack rattling the net with a screamer in the Blackrock end. The crowd were on their feet now, and two more Falvey frees edged us 5 in front . A great O’Connell save after 20 mins resulted in a great move downfield for another white flag for the student . Douglas added 2 fine scores before the their custodian made a fine save from goal poacher Cormack. Up the field they came and following and some controversy , after consultations with umpires ,linesmen , Hawkeye and even the players, tá was the outcome. This made it a one goal game before Falvey added another to go in at the break 4 up. Into the second half and another Falvey free edged us 5 ahead but Douglas came back strong , dominating the midfield, and added 3 unanswered points. A Falvey free settled the nerves before Douglas added another brace, although Hurley notched a fine score to leave 3 in it. Douglas rattled the net to make extra time look a real possibility, leaving Notley on edge with his Sunday roast looking like going back in the oven . Even the white van with all the milky moos had left by now as the fans were enthralled by the action. However, after one or two schemozzles and some bants in the uncovered stand section , we regained our composure ,and the lead with a Falvey free before Denn and Falvey again made it safe.
